ABUJA – The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, yesterday, called on the Leadership of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to reduced the N4000 online registration fee to N3000. The students’ national body said,on no account should anybody or group either the NYSC Directorate, any school management or the operators of the online system exploit the intending NYSC members under this system. Addressing newsmen after a meeting with the management of the scheme, in Abuja, the NANS President, Comrade Tijani Usman said they would monitor it to ensure that the on-line policy remains functional, effective and exploitation free NANS however endorsed the policy, saying “there is no need retaining the old Manual Call-Up system, since it is costly and risky. Consequently, the online system should be mandatory, but very effective.” To this end, NANS President urged all students and parents to embrace the system. He said, “NANS urges all our students and our ever-caring parents to embrace this online system. “NANS will ensure that her positions especially on the reduced fee are pushed through so as to make the system better in the end. “This supreme students body also wished to make it clear that we have protested, argued and debated this in the most civilized way, our issues were on points of facts and contents, there is no personal problem between either the leadership of NANs and the NYSC.” Usman who also passed a vote of confidence on the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olawumi also endorsed his leadership of the NYSC scheme. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/02/reduce-on-line-registration-fee-nans-tells-nysc/#sthash.hWFkNhcy.dpuf
