  • Aguero strike gives City hope

  • Clichy sent off for second yellow

  • Hart saves late Messi penalty

  • Luis Suarez dented Manchester City's hopes of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals with two goals as Barcelona secured a last-16 first-leg victory at Etihad Stadium.

The former Liverpool striker drove home a rebound before stabbing in a second as Barcelona dominated the first half.

Sergio Aguero's powerful finish after the break gave City hope.

The hosts were reduced to 10-men when Gael Clichy was sent off before Lionel Messi had a late penalty saved.

The result means Manuel Pellegrini's side will need to score at least twice in the second leg at the Nou Camp on 18 March to have a chance of reaching the last eight.
