A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufa’i, has been declared winner of the Kaduna State governorship election held on Saturday.
According to the INEC in Kaduna, El-Rufa’i polled 1,117,635 million votes from across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The Returning Officer for Kaduna State, Prof. Ja’afaru Kaura, who announced the result, said El-Rufa’i defeated the incumbent governor and Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mukhtar Yero, who polled a total of 485,833 votes.
Yero had, earlier in a telephone call and special radio broadcast to the people of the state, conceded defeat to the former minister.
