ICT experts, desperate politicians out to scuttle polls — REC

THE Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Edo State, Mr Mike Igini, has raised the alarm that ICT experts, in collaboration with some desperate politicians, want to derail the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible elections through the cloning and purchase of permanent voters cards (PVCs).
The REC, reacting to the arrest of seven persons at the New Benin Market, Benin-City, allegedly involved in the purchase of PVCs from market women, described as heart breaking the connivance of some ICT experts and politicians to clone PVCs, just as he vowed that all those arrested will be prosecuted.
The suspects were apprehended by the police during an attempt to purchase PVCs from some illiterate market women for N5,000-N10,000.
