A group of political leaders, acting under the aegis of the “Ondo State Stakeholders Forum”, is canvassing increased support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari for this month’s presidential election.
At a meeting held on Saturday in Akure, the leaders, drawn from the 18 local government areas of the state, expressed unanimity that what Nigeria needs at this time is to change the government of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of President Goodluck Jonathan.
To that end, the said that they have been preparing hard to ensure that the APC presidential candidate comes out victorious in the election.
The political leaders added that the corruption being perpetrated under the watchful eyes of the PDP government is enough reason for the people of the state and the country at large to send President Jonathan back to his Otuoke hometown.
Speaking at the meeting, a former Commissioner for Finance in Ondo state, Mr. Segun Ojo, described the mission of the forum as being to compliment the tireless effort of the Executive members of the APC in the state chapter.  He stressed that that the presidential election is around the corner and that all members of the forum need to reach out to the electorate at the various ward levels tdo sensitize them on the need to embrace ‘change’ and vote for General Buhari of the APC.
Mr. Ojo disclosed that the Ondo State Stakeholders Forum”, which is dominated by members of the in the state, is not to cause division or factionalize the party as is currently being insinuated, but to raise additional support for the party by spreading the manifestos and programmes of General Buhari and his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo.
“We are here to ensure the successful emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari as the next president of our dear country,” he said.  “We must compliment their effort by reaching out to people at the ward levels, to come out en masse and vote for Buhari, who can only make the needed change we want at this critical time before things worsen.”
A former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ayo Agbomuserin, noted that Saturday’s meeting was the second in a series, adding that instead of waiting for funds from Lagos and Abuja for mobilization, members should begin grassroots and house-to-house campaigns with just a few weeks to the polls..He argued that the the impact of all members must be felt in all the wards and local government areas of the state by canvasing support for the candidature of the APC.
“Our duty is to go home there, work and tell people the reason why they should embrace ‘change’ by voting Buhari as the next president in the coming election.
“Let us see, hear and feel your impact that you are truly working for the success of the APC presidential candidate in your various wards, streets and local government areas”, he added.
While assuring his support, a former House of Assembly member, Tayo Abidakun, (aka “Jaja’) who represented Akure South Constituency II affirmed that victory would surely come the way of the party if its members work hard in the few weeks before the election.  He observed that the people of the State are already yearning for change as need a new ‘messiah’ who will save them from the bondage the PDP government.
Gani Dauda, a former ally of Governor Olusegun Mimiko and social media activist, the APC has already won the election if its members would sacrifice the remaining few weeks to the poll for aggressive campaigns and sensitization.
In their contribution, several other important members of the forum called for increased media coverage and constructive propaganda in Ondo ahead of the election, advising that even new members should be fully integrated into the APC in order for them to work hard at ensuring that the party emerges victorious in their respective wards, streets and localities.
