A
head the governorship election, the Catholic Men Organisation has
endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Godwin
Obaseki, and his running mate, Hon. Philip Shaibu.
The body, which described the two
candidates as worthy ambassador in their chosen careers, explained that
it has started mobilising it people across the 18 local government areas
to support Obaseki and Shaibu.
At a reception in honour of Shaibu in
Auchi by the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, the body said as a recipient of
the prestigious catholic men ambassador award, Shaibu is assured of
their supports during poll.
Its president, Mr. Chris Ighodalo, said
the decision to support the APC candidate was due to its constitutional
provision to support any of its members seeking elective position and
the performance of Shaibu when he was a member of the Edo State House of
Assembly.
Ighodalo said: “ I am not a politician
but We all have seen what Philip Shaibu did in terms of constituency
projects while in the State House of Assembly and we know how Edo was
before Oshiomhole came in, and see what he has done within the last
seven years. So, we will support what he supports.”
Responding, the Deputy Governorship
candidate said he was born into the Catholic family and as a dedicated
and practicing Catholic whose wife’s brother is a Reverend father while
his own younger brother will be ordained a Reverend father in October.
The former NANS president said the
desire to better the lot of the common man has always been the motives
behind all the motion he has moved both at State and at the National
Assembly for which he is prepare to bring to bear in government when
elected.
