APC Reps Fail Motion To Summon INEC Chairman

The lawmakers from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) stop the House of Representatives from summoning Professor Attahiru Jega, the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) over general elections.

Prof. Jega appeared before the Senate at about the same time the motion was decided.
The House Majority Leader, Leo Ogor (PDP-Delta), had in a motion at the plenary session, adviced the house to summon Mr. Jega to explain INEC’s readiness on the next month’s general polls.
Meanwhile, members of the APC in the House, who settled majority in the chamber, together with few others, denied the motion.

The motion, which was put to a voice vote by the Speaker, Aminu Tambawal, did not scale through, although similar motion was passed by the Senate on Tuesday.
The House has 360 legislators, out of which APC had 182; PDP, 155 and other parties, 23.
However, the House would on Thursday debate the legality or otherwise of the disposition of army to monitor the coming general polls.

It should be noted that Attahiru Jega at a meeting with Senators today, on February 18, could not warrant that the 2015 general elections will hold on rescheduled dates in March and April.
It was gathered that President Goodluck Jonathan supposedly prepared 10 more cases against his key opponent General Buhari and INEC to stop elections.
