Champions League: Mourinho relieved after Chelsea draw at PSG

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admitted his side were a little lucky to secure a 1-1 draw in their Champions League last-16 first leg tie at Paris St-Germain.

Branislav Ivanovic gave Chelsea the lead before Edinson Cavani equalised.

Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois then made a number of impressive saves to deny PSG victory.

Asked if his side got away with it, Mourinho said: "When you see the performance of our goalkeeper you have to say yes."

The result was a marked improvement on the quarter-final first-leg tie between the two sides last year.

PSG won 3-1 at Parc des Princes on that occasion, but Chelsea scraped into the semi-finals as Demba Ba's late goal sealed a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge to ensure Mourinho's side progressed on away goals.

Chelsea will be considered strong favourites this time, with their FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Bradford last month their only home loss this season.

"The advantage is minimal," Mourinho added.

"Obviously a two-leg game is now one leg. Now everything is decided at Stamford Bridge, not in two matches where they have a fantastic record [at home].

"It's not a victory, 3-0 or 4-0 that ends the story. They are a fantastic team, fantastic players. We did okay."
