Obiano had told the former commissioners and appointees in Obi’s government that PDP as a party is full of mad men, the likes of Engr Arthur Eze and Chief Chris Uba. The issue is already creating tension in the camps of Chief Uba and Prince Eze, both top ranking members of the PDP.
When contacted, those who witnessed the meeting confirmed the allegation, reiterating that Obi has joined the group of mad people.
Obiano allegedly said he knew that madness was inherent part of the PDP, hence, he advised Obi not to join PDP, but he refused.
He said: “Obi has joined PDP and by that he has joined the band of mad men, tell me how he would not become a mad man.”
Obiano claimed that, even the President had confided in him that he was not happy that Obi joined the party.
Earlier before the meeting, former Commissioner for Education, Dr. Uju Okeke, was said to have been given N150, 000 for recharge card with which she send text messages to other former commissioners notifying them about the meeting.
Obiano appealed to them to support him and make sure Victor Umeh is delivered, inviting any of them that has a registered company to bring the name of the company to him for contract, assuring that he has eight years to stay as governor and that there would be plenty of good things to enjoy.
He said: “Look at the champagne you are drinking now, did you drink it when Obi was the governor. The highest he gave you was Two Ocean that is sold N1000 per bottle.”
Boasting that he had been made the state coordinator of PDP Presidential campaign organization, PCO, by the President himself and that soon money will be released directly to him, Obiano descended on Obi, saying that though he is a good man, he was tricky adding that “if he tells you to stop, you should run; and stop if he tells you to run.”
Recalling how he became governor, he was said to have revealed that he was in his swimming pool enjoying himself when Obi called to inform him that he had purchased ticket for him to return home, adding: “Prior to this, I was already a rich man.”
After the meeting, called to strategise on how to deliver Umeh to the Senate, Obiano gave them rice, tomatoes, wines and N200,000 cash each, which he called Christmas gifts, but which some returned, saying they cannot sell their conscience.
National Mirror learnt that some of the commissioners did not attend the meeting, asking him to reconcile with Obi before calling them to such a meeting.
Among those that attended were: Barr. Peter Afuba, Prof. Stella Okunna, Engr. Patrick Obi, Dr. Edozie Aroh, Dr. Ego Uzoezie, Dr. Egbebike, Dr. Okeke, Lady Henrietta Agbata, Dr. Kay Onyechi, Prof Amobi Illika, Dr. Ngozi Okoye, Chief Sebastian Okoye, Barr. Vincent Ezenwajiaku, Mr. Law Chinwuba, Col. George Muolokwu, (rtd), Chief Godfery Nzenagu, Chief Paul Odenigbo, Chief Maja Umeh, Barr. Okoli Akirika, Mrs. Chinwe Anowai and Dr. Lawrence Ikeakor
